About Us

Who We Are

At Colet House, we are dedicated to nurturing inner peace, spiritual growth, and happiness, drawing upon a rich legacy that began with the teachings of Russian philosopher and esotericist P.D. Ouspensky in the 1920s, focusing on the development of human consciousness and the understanding of universal laws.

In 1951, Ouspensky’s successor Dr Francis Roles continued this exploration and formed The Study Society and integrated practices such as Transcendental Meditation, The Movements and Whirling Dervish Turning. There were also meetings with celebrated speakers on philosophy, spirituality, psychology, science and the arts, all which remain central to our offering today.

Our teachings are deeply rooted in the non-dual philosophy of Advaita Vedanta, which recognises there is only one infinite Reality from which there is an appearance that objects - including human beings - are separate. This separation is the cause of suffering. Non-duality, the essence of many great wisdom traditions, remains a guiding principle in our approach to spiritual development.

Our Purpose

Based in the historic Colet House, we offer a unique blend of tradition and modernity through a diverse range of classes and workshops. Colet House, with its origins dating back to 1885, has a rich history as a creative hub, once home to renowned artists like Edward Burne-Jones and the Legat Ballet Studio. Today, it continues to serve as a sanctuary for those seeking spiritual growth and inner peace.

Our aim is to provide an engaging, multidisciplinary approach to spiritual practices, making them accessible and relevant to contemporary life. Whether through meditation, movement, music, and meetings, we invite you to join us on a transformative journey towards a more balanced, peaceful, and fulfilling life.
